Bluesky is where I hang out the most these days.

Also, Substack platforms nazis. You should probably get off that too if you don't want to support that. Ghost is a good open source option that's easy to use.

Bluesky is ok especially for getting information but it sucks as a social media site.

In general i think it might be time to get off of social media

I miss Twitter so much. Not all voids are equal, and I need a void to yell into sometimes

Thanks for writing this Alex. Agree 1000x. Also maybe consider Ghost? David Farrier moved over there because of his concerns with Substack and as a follower of his it was pretty transparent to me.

I want BlueSky to be a better twitter and mechanically it’s better but it’s devolved into its own tribal tendencies. With so many holding onto twitter it’s yet to flourish and the both twitter and BlueSky suffer and have become worse for it. I don’t know where to go these days and I’m increasingly self monitoring sharing my thoughts online and self-censoring for fear of getting harassed or barred entry to the USA the next time I go to visit family and friends since I don’t hold a US passport. The terror is no longer abstract, it’s not at the doorstep. It is inside my house and living rent free in my head.

I am so confused about why anyone is still on Twitter. Even prior to Musk's takeover, it was the saddest form of social media - prioritizing meanness and hot takes over substance - but now? I really really don't get it except as a leftover habit for the olden times.

It's fun and funny sometimes

I guess then, the question is as in all relationships - are there more good days than bad?

Blue sky or even threads. I deleted the Twitter app off my phone and if anything tries to redirect me to Twitter and it won’t let me read without signing in, I have decided that information isn’t important enough to read. It’s worked great for over a year.
