It's nice to finally know why the Scaredy Cats podcast ended so abruptly, but I'm still sad. It got me to watch all the movies ya'll featured, and I enjoyed them all.

Ditto. I was like PJ in how much I hated scary movies, but I really enjoyed the ones from the podcast and have now watched several more. Turns out what I don’t like is slasher films… thanks for expanding my life experience Alex !

Am I right in assuming "This American Startup" was later retitled... StartUp?

You are not—this American startup is a show from 5 or so years before Alex Blumberg’s StartUp

I realized a lot of this when I started my own small press and found that EVERY NAME YOU CAN THINK OF that is even tangentially related to books or fiction is already taken by a press somewhere, or (worse) looks like it isn’t, but then you learn by accident that it once was the name of an incredible important and influential press. I went with a term that has the distinct advantage of being totally unpronounceable by anyone who didn’t do linguistics. Boom, nobody has that name because nobody wanted it. A recipe for sure success.

*Incredibly. Would that I could edit comments on my phone.

Internet worlds colliding here, I've been watching Mildred Slime for years and somehow completely missed that whole dust up. Bummer to see good folks who make good stuff at odds like that.

Hi Alex!

I loved Reply All and I’m so sorry the team had to go through so much pain with the legal battle.

I’ve been wanting to make a one time contribution to you for the substack but there isn’t a way to do it. There’s only subscription plans.

I avoid subscriptions, because you know...you forget and all that.

Would you consider checking if the settings permit one time contributions? Thank you!

There’s always Ko-fi or something 😄

I write on substack too, so I’ve been thinking about this myself.

Just do a subscription, let yourself get billed and then immediately cancel.

You could have named the podcast “Internetly.” Boom! Problem solved.

That experience sounds incredibly frustrating, though interesting to read about.

Thanks for sharing this, I loved Scaredy Cats and was dismayed at how short the run ended up being.
